Meeting

I haven't had a meeting with my photographer for 2 weeks now which is pretty disappointing. We arranged to do a photoshoot for beauty products this week but he didn't show up. So my tutor told me to find another photographer who was willing to do my shoot as well as their own. So I spoke to Wezz and we arranged to do that for the next week, later that day Lewis my photographer showed up and was pretty upset about the situation so I had to cancel my shoot with Wezz and arrange a shoot with Lewis (again). Let's hope he turns up this time!

Weekly diary

Here is a material I tried to dye to use for a sample. It went wrong as you can see the dye hasn't stayed on and you can see the original colour of the material which is blue. Therefore I will not be doing this in the future because it wastes a lot of time.

Weekly diary

Here is a sample I did of my kimono. I used a light material to see whether it will give the draped effect I wanted to achieve so I could make my garment using a similar material in different colour. I like show shape of the kimono it is very oversized and has elements from the Shuka.

Final designs

Here are 6 illustrations of my final designs. I was inspired by my chosen tribe and the Valentino S/S 14 collection I look at. The formal elements I looked at the most were colour and shapes as I found them more visually interesting. I have labeled the materials I will be using like satin and cotton because they are the fabrics the people from the tribe would wear

Some inspiration...

Here are some pieces from my favourite fashion designer Alexander Wang's most recent collection. I like the shapes of these pieces and the way the drape and the wrap effect falls nice and neat. I want a similar outcome for my final garment.

Weekly diary.

Here are some samplesand twoiles I have  made using scrap fabrics just to try out different shapes. I got my inspiration from the Maasai tribe as they wrap a lot of there clothes on with plain materials

Who decides what is in fashion?
• Fashion bloggers
• Street style
• Fashion predictors
• High-end designers
• Magazine editors

What is fast fashion?
Fast fashion is on trend clothes for the younger generation (16-20 yr old) who are into fashion and latest trends. It is mostly cheap clothes in the high street shops which are very affordable so once it is out of fashion it can be thrown away.

What is classic fashion?
Classic fashion is timeless pieces which are always in fashion and never out. Older men and women who are interested in fashion tend to go for this look as they don't have much time to go shopping. And it is usually abit more pricey than fast fashion because the quality is much more better.

Trickle down effect/bubble up effect
The trickle down effect first starts off by famous celebrity's who are in the public eye a lot for there great styles then fashion bloggers are inspired by there look and then average people who are just interested in fashion. The bubble up effect is when high end fashion designers get inspiration by street style and just the opposite way up.

High end to high street
- Celine
- Alexander Wang
- Victoria Beckham
- Mullberry
- Selfridges
- Zara
- Topshop
- RiverIsland
- Asos
- H&M
- Primark
- Shout
- Markets

Why is fashion pre-planned?
Fashion is pre-planned so high end designers have enough time to make a collection that is on trend to start trends. And so the designers and shops know what will sell and what won't so they are not wasteing money.
